Shy of Normal (Collum, 2010)

Currently cutting Jason Paul Collum’s film Shy of Normal which was shelved for 3 years and resurrected a few months ago. Principle photography completed last saturday with Swamphead/Teenbot Director/Writer/DP Justin Propp behind the camera on a short called What’s Included.

The film originated from 3 stage plays that JPC adapted, using the original casts and scripts, and pulled together with a wrap around story centering on a female writer, played by scream queen Brinke Stevens, who is suffering from writers block. On a recommendation by her friend, Sleepaway Camp’s Felissa Rose, the writer observes people in public to capture the inspiration she is sorely lacking.

The film is a departure from JPC’s other films as it isn’t a horror film. While there are still elements that harken back to some of his other work, the tone and writing are much lighter this time around.

ALSO, look out for the Slumber Party Massacre Boxset being released October 5th, by Shout factory featuring the 3 part documentary directed by Jason Paul Collum and edited by Derrick Carey called Sleepless Nights: Revisiting the Slumber Party Massacres.

For a refresher on all things JPC, here are a few trailers to his other films:

Something to Scream About (2003)

October Moon (2005)

November Son (2008)
